Shin Beh, M.D., has been named Assistant Professor of Neurology & Neurotherapeutics, and will take on roles as a clinician and researcher with the Multiple Sclerosis Program, as well as establish a new clinic for patients with dizziness, vertigo and balance disorders.

Dr. Beh completed a multi-center fellowship in 2014 that included training at Johns Hopkins Medicine, New York University Medical Center and UT Southwestern in neuroimmunology, neuro- ophthalmology, and neuro- otology.

During his training at UTSW, Dr. Beh worked closely with Elliot Frohman, M.D., Ph.D., founder of the MS program at UTSW.

“The variety of pathologies and patients I saw during my residency and fellowship, as well as the invaluable teaching, particularly from my mentor Elliot Frohman, provided me with the knowledge and experience needed to be a caring and competent neurologist,” said Dr. Beh.

Dr. Beh’s goals as a clinician include establishing the new Vestibular Neurology & Neuro-Visual Disorders Clinic. As a researcher, he aims to expand the understanding of how the visual system is affected by neurologic disorders, particularly multiple sclerosis, and then use this knowledge to help design biomarkers that can be applied to neurotherapeutic trials.

During his fellowship, Dr. Beh worked closely with the team at the MS Clinical Care Center at UTSW and realized that it would be an ideal place to grow as a clinician.

“It has one of the best support staff systems in the country,” he said. “The presence of well-trained nurses, physician assistants, case managers, research coordinators, social workers, and neuro-ophthalmic technicians enables the clinicians to provide top-notch patient care.”
