Community Engagement
Our vision is to engage our community, not just on our campus but around our city. Every other month, GHHS assembles a team of students to come together to work on a specific project. Previous and upcoming projects are outlined below.
Friends of Bachman Lake
May/June 2019
One of our community partners is Friends of Bachman Lake, an organization who seeks to keep the lake and surrounding park beautiful for their residents. We spent the afternoon retrieving trash from the lake alongside other members of the organization.
Meals on Wheels
July/August 2019
During 1st year orientation, we partnered with the UTSW Pre-Op Committee to lead small groups of students to volunteer with Meals on Wheels. Meals on Wheels is a nonprofit organization that provides food for house-bound seniors in the community.
Soap for Hope
October 2019-January 2020
Soap for Hope is a toiletries drive, which was inspired by former GHHS members. This initiative is targeted toward 4th year students, who are encouraged to donate the toiletries they collect from hotels on the interview trail, and the rest of the student body is given the opportunity to contribute as well. Collected toiletries are donated to the Union Gospel Mission, a homeless shelter for men, women, and children in Dallas.
