Sruja Arya

Neurosurgery Sruja Arya is a medical student from Sugar Land, Texas, applying for neurosurgery residency. She is passionate about community service, humanistic medicine, and prioritizing patient values in care. As a member of the Humans of Parkland committee, she is excited to learn from the diverse and resilient patients, families, and community members served by Parkland. In her free time, she enjoys playing guitar, running, and reading.

Emily Buchanan

Internal Medicine Emily Buchanan is an M.D. candidate pursuing a residency in Internal Medicine with a strong interest in cardiac electrophysiology. She is passionate about global health mission work, patient education, and advancing medical technology through research. Outside of medicine, she enjoys gardening, swimming, and spending time with friends and family.

Will Chai

Internal Medicine After growing up in Ames, Iowa, Will moved to Maryland, which his family still calls home. He chose a career in medicine out of a desire to serve others, and he is dedicated to providing compassionate, patient-centered care where every individual feels genuinely heard, respected, and supported. In his free time, he enjoys exploring the outdoors, practicing astrophotography, cooking, and hanging out with his Shiba Inu.

Ali Ebada

Neurosurgery Ali Ebada is a member of the UT Southwestern Class of 2027 passionate about bridging research, clinical medicine, and the social determinants of health in pursuit of a career in neurosurgery. Outside the hospital, he stays connected to his community by coaching youth baseball with Mercy Street, tutoring at the Union Gospel Mission, volunteering for refugee organizations, founding the Southwestern Miracle League, and conducting research on socioeconomic disparities in neurosurgical care. In his free time, he enjoys hiking, playing guitar, and running the Katy Trail.

Clarissa Fuentes

Anesthesia Clarissa is an M.D. candidate from Rowlett, Texas, applying into anesthesia, with a particular interest in pain medicine. As lead chair of the Solidarity Week committee, Clarissa channels her passion for compassionate patient care. Outside of medicine, she enjoys coaching her soccer team Rainbow Dash, watching football, thrift shopping, and spending time with her friends and family.

Andrea Gutierrez

Diagnostic Radiology Andrea is from San Antonio, Texas, pursuing a career in Diagnostic Radiology and an M.D. with Distinction in Quality Improvement. As a member of the GHHS Ethics Committee, she leads clerkship case discussions to help students navigate complex ethical scenarios, reflecting her broader dedication to medical education, longitudinal mentorship of peers, and youth empowerment and health advocacy within the community. Outside of medicine, she enjoys running half marathons, taking yoga sculpt classes, playing pickleball, and regular games of Rummikub and Mahjong with friends and family.

Hana Hendi

Internal Medicine Hana is a fourth-year medical student from Dallas, Texas, applying to internal medicine with special interests in gastroenterology, health equity, and medical education. As Chair of the GHHS Humans of Parkland Committee, she founded the Digital Heirloom Project, supporting palliative care patients and their families through anticipated grief, and leads Social History Workshops training first-year students to contextualize their patients' lived experiences beyond their diagnoses. She is drawn to academic internal medicine because it is an environment where caring for patients, innovating, and training the next generation of physicians are not separate pursuits. In her free time, she enjoys crocheting, hiking, and exploring new coffee shops.

Eunice Kim

Ophthalmology Born in South Korea, Eunice was drawn to medicine's power to reach underserved communities after navigating language and health literacy barriers firsthand. As a member of the Student Affairs Committee, she strives to foster connection and growth among peers as they navigate medical training. Outside of medicine, she enjoys playing music, exploring new coffee shops, and spending time with family and friends.

Ethan Lumongsud

Plastic Surgery SEthan is a medical student at UT Southwestern. He was drawn to medicine because he loves working with patients recovering from traumatic injuries, cancer-related defects, and nerve pain or dysfunction, helping restore both form and function through reconstructive surgery. Outside of medicine, you'll usually find him running, hiking, snowboarding, playing basketball, or traveling whenever he gets the chance.

Mishel Malik

Ophthalmology or Internal Medicine Mishel is an M.D./M.P.H. candidate from San Antonio, Texas, with interests in community health, mentorship, and improving access to care. In her free time, she enjoys going on walks, listening to podcasts, and exploring new coffee shops.

Abrar Mamun

Internal Medicine Abrar is a medical student at UT Southwestern with a strong interest in Internal Medicine, particularly in preventive care settings that address chronic disease at both the individual and community level. His experiences in longitudinal free clinic leadership and health equity-related policy initiatives have shaped his commitment to patient-centered care and systems-based improvement. In his free time, he likes to play basketball, skateboard, and hike!

Basir Mansoor

Otolaryngology–Head & Neck Surgery Basir Mansoor is a fourth-year medical student at UT Southwestern. He is originally from Plano, Texas, and attended UT Dallas where he studied neuroscience. Within GHHS, he serves as Communications Chair and is passionate about fostering humanism and connection within the medical community. Outside of medicine, he enjoys hiking, spending time with friends and family, and watchmaking!

Omar Manzur

Diagnostic Radiology Omar Manzur is a medical student at UT Southwestern whose path to medicine has been shaped by a deep appreciation for people's stories and cultures, having grown up overseas. Through student-run free clinics, refugee health outreach, mentorship, and research focused on patient-centered care, he has been drawn to the ways medicine can restore quality of life, build trust, and meet patients not only as diagnoses, but as unique individuals. Outside of medicine, he enjoys guitar, chess, cooking, exploring new restaurants, rock climbing, traveling, and spending time with his cats!

Asim Mohamed

Internal Medicine Asim is an M.D. candidate from Fremont, California, applying to internal medicine. He is passionate about caring for patients who often go unheard, whether volunteering monthly at a free clinic for uninsured patients in Dallas, interpreting for Urdu- and Hindi-speaking patients, or studying what helps patients trust their care. As Communications Chair of GHHS, he loves sharing the stories of the people who make medicine human. He also serves as the IT Representative on student government and co-founded a pen pal program pairing medical students with children living in a family shelter. Outside of medicine, he builds custom watches, collects pens and fragrances, watches old Tamil and Hindi films, and has played soccer since he was a kid.

Divya Nagarajan

Ophthalmology Divya is an M.D. candidate from Spring, Texas, applying to ophthalmology. She is excited to help her future patients achieve their ideal quality of life by protecting their vision so they can continue to meaningfully interface with the world around us. In her free time, she enjoys reading fiction, trying new crafts, and taking long walks in nature.

Elias Nasser

Orthopaedic Surgery Elias is an M.D. candidate from Houston, Texas, pursuing a career in Orthopaedic Surgery. He hopes to dedicate his career to serving vulnerable populations in low-resource settings and conflict zones. In his free time, Elias enjoys watching Longhorn football, finding new coffee shops, and spending time with his friends and family.

Celine Nguyen

Ophthalmology Celine is an M.D. candidate from San Jose, California, pursuing ophthalmology. Her service and research work focus on safety-net ophthalmology and community-based vision care, including co-founding the Agape Ophthalmology Student-Run Free Clinic. As a member of the Humanism in Medicine Committee, she is dedicated to promoting health equity and patient-centered care; outside of medicine, she enjoys exploring new matcha and coffee shops, baking, crafting, and spending time with friends.

Cruz Perez-Jimenez

Pediatrics As a childhood cancer survivor from the border region of El Paso and Ciudad Juárez, Cruz was inspired to pursue Pediatric Oncology. Growing up on the border also shaped his passion for helping Hispanic and underserved populations through compassionate, equitable care. At GHHS, he will be helping lead volunteering efforts at the Ronald McDonald House this year, which is especially meaningful to him since he stayed there as a kid during treatment! Outside of medical school, he enjoys watching rugby, hiking and exploring alpine destinations, trying new restaurants, and spending time with family and friends!

Cody Perry

Internal Medicine Cody Perry is a fourth-year medical student who grew up as a military kid moving from place to place, which helped him appreciate the unique backgrounds that people contribute to the world. This care for people, as well as his deep connections with family members who have struggled with disease, inspired him to pursue medicine and to immerse himself in the communities where he practices. In his free time, he enjoys cooking dishes from different cultures, staying active through basketball, and traveling with friends.

Deepa Ravindra

General Surgery Deepa Ravindra is a fourth-year medical student at UT Southwestern. She is from Coppell, Texas (just 20 minutes away!), and spent time in Baltimore for college and her gap year. In GHHS, she helps lead the Student Affairs Committee, which creates programming for Orientation and the Transitions to Clerkship week. In her free time, she loves to play basketball, go on walks, win games of Rummikub, and spend time with her family and friends.

Kacie Shannon

Neurology Kacie is an M.D. candidate from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, pursuing a career in Neurology. She holds strong interests in medical education, humanism in medicine, and compassionate care for older adults. As Chair of the Clerkship Ethics Committee, she leads didactic initiatives that create space for reflection and thoughtful engagement with the ethical questions that students encounter during clinical training. Outside of medicine, she enjoys hiking, listening to live music, and sharing quality time and laughter with friends.

Spencer Simko

General SurgerySpencer Simko is a medical student at UT Southwestern with interests in general surgery, healthcare quality and value, and patient safety. Growing up in Utah, spending a year and a half in Honduras, and working as a CNA developed his passion for combining compassionate, patient-centered care with systems-based innovation to improve the experiences and outcomes of patients. While not at the hospital, Spencer enjoys spending time with his wife and two kids, ultra-marathon running and playing the piano for his church's children's Sunday school.

Anika Srinath

OBGYN Anika Srinath is an M.D./M.P.H. candidate at UT Southwestern. Her initial interest in pursuing medicine developed from a desire to connect with individuals from many different backgrounds and experiences. She decided to concurrently pursue her M.P.H. so she could learn more about how she could use her career to improve patient access to care on a systemic level. In her free time, she enjoys trying new restaurants, going on walks, reading books, and traveling!

Kennedy Tham

Internal Medicine-Pediatrics Kennedy is a medical student from Houston, Texas, applying into Internal Medicine-Pediatrics with interests in gastroenterology, medical education, and health advocacy. He was drawn to medicine by the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with patients and families with a commitment to teaching, research, and lifelong learning. In his free time, he enjoys playing sand volleyball, trying new sushi restaurants, and watching movies.

Ritu Trivedi

Ritu is a fourth-year medical student from Plano, Texas. She is dedicated to working with underserved populations, and as co-chair of the Community Engagement Committee, she enjoys creating opportunities for others to do the same. Outside of medicine, her interests include reading, traveling, and playing tennis.

Vincent Truong

Pathology Vincent is an M.D./M.P.H. student pursuing a career in pathology, blending diagnostic precision with a population health perspective. Their commitment to ethical practice and humanism is reflected in their active role on the Ethics Committee. In their free time, they stay active with calisthenics and enjoy winding down with books, board games, and video games.
