Information for Letter of Recommendation Writers
Thank you for writing a letter of recommendation for one of the applicants to the 2024 UT Southwestern Amgen Scholars program.
This is a hands-on, 10-week research intensive biomedical research experience where the fellows will take ownership of and contribute both technically and intellectually. This is a competitive fellowship and we depend heavily on letters of recommendation to select fellows who have already demonstrated motivation and independence in the classroom and/or research environment.
In your letter please comment on:
- How do you know the applicant and how long have you interacted?
- Provide examples of applicant’s drive, determination, and grit in the lab or classroom.
- Will this program support the long-term goals of the applicant?
The student you are supporting will enter your name and email in our online application. Once they submit the application, you will receive an email prompt with a link to upload your letter of recommendation. You will submit your letter of recommendation directly to this link. The deadline for receipt of Letters of Recommendation is February 1, 2024. Feel free to send them as soon as possible so they can be attached to the applicant’s file.
