The Graduate Program and Predoctoral Internship communicates respect for cultural and individual diversity in its broadest form as well as with regard to the faculty and students involved in the Program.
The UT Southwestern institutional policy against discrimination may be found in multiple sites including the Graduate School catalog and website for the UT Southwestern Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences.
Recruitment & Retention Enhancement Committee
It is the policy of the Program to encourage diversity in recruitment of students and faculty, and the Program has formed a Diversity and Inclusion Committee in Clinical Psychology. The Recruitment & Retention Enhancement Committee in Clinical Psychology's mission is to facilitate and maintain the Division's commitment to promote sensitivity to diversity in the areas of teaching, research, and clinical service.
The Committee works to develop policies that increase the recruitment and retention of diverse students and faculty and serves as a resource for the Division. The Committee works to advocate for cultural humility and inclusion as well as to develop initiatives to strengthen the educational and institutional climate across the Division.
Mental Health Disparities Award
Children’s Health℠ and the Clinical Psychology Graduate Program at UT Southwestern have joined to create the Mental Health Disparities Award. This fellowship funds one incoming first-year student who is interested in study related to the psychiatric needs of children from ethnic minority groups and other underserved populations.
This scholarship aims to promote approaches to understanding and eliminating racial and ethnic health disparities and promoting culturally sensitive care through clinical and research activities in Clinical Psychology at Children’s Medical Center. This scholarship provides a full stipend for the first year of the student’s enrollment and will be awarded competitively during the admissions process.
