STARS Summer Science Camps

The STARS Summer Science Camps began in 2008 with a grant from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute's Education Pre-College Division. The camps are designed to provide high school science teachers with experience and increase their confidence in laboratory exercises, and to give a head-start to students who will take the corresponding science classes the following school year.

Two master teachers, 10 teachers, and 30 students participate in each camp. The staff of the Science Teacher Access to Resources at Southwestern (STARS) Program designs each camp and provides overall supervision.

Camps are located on UT Southwestern Medical Center's South Campus. The camps run for 12 days, with the first two days devoted to teacher training without students.

All camps provide breakfast and lunch for all participants. Students are responsible for providing their own transportation to and from the Campus. Learn more about the summer camps or contact STARS at starsmail@utsouthwestern.edu.
