Getting Started
- On Your First Day
8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. - attend New Employee Orientation. (Your onboarding coordinator has emailed you a link to register for orientation.)
After orientation, complete online training modules in Taleo Learn on your official start date [use your username (SWID) and password that was emailed to you by Identity Access Management (IAM)]:
- Complete your Job Profile before accessing training.
- Day 1 modules due by the end of your first day.
- FY26 UT Southwestern New Employee Orientation with Live Webinar (all new employees)
- FY26 UT Southwestern New Employee Orientation Clinical Modules (clinical employees only)
- Business Affairs Stewardship and Service (Business Affairs employees only)
Federal law requires that the Family Medical Leave policy and the State of Texas Anti-Lobbying Statute be made accessible to all new hires on their first day of employment.
- Within Your First Three Days
- Complete I-9 verification in person at the HR Services Center (NG3.111).
- Get your UTSW ID badge at the HR Services Center (NG3.111), South Campus Visitor Information Center (A), or at the University Police Building (BE).
- Change your initial password that was sent to you by Identity Access Management.
- Register for DUO Two-Factor Authentication.
- Explore transportation options, including self-parking with a parking pass or public transit (DART).
- Within Your First Week
- Complete your W-4 and Direct Deposit forms in PeopleSoft (access via on-campus network or VPN).
- Sign up for Values in Practice training in Taleo Learn (not required for faculty, fellows, PRNs, and postdocs):
- Select My Required Training.
- Select the plus sign next to the Values in Practice Learning Plan.
- Select the plus sign next to Values in Practice.
- Select your preferred date (within 60 days of your start date). In the top right corner select Enroll. Please enroll for only one date.
- Hospital and clinical employees: Complete Fire and Occupational Safety training module in Taleo Learn prior to performing patient care duties.
- Within Your First 30 Days
- Review and select your employee benefits.
- Compliance training modules are due.
- Disclose Conflict of Interest information (you will receive an email if this is required).
