The education and training programs of the Department of Microbiology include:

The Molecular Microbiology Graduate Program, which covers microbial pathogenesis, virology, and cellular and molecular immunology. The Program is part of the UT Southwestern Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences.

The Molecular Microbiology Training Grant, an interdisciplinary program supported by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) that maintains a microbiology orientation while also broadening the scope of the training mission to include many other aspects of molecular and cell biology.

The S. Edward Sulkin Endowments, which include the S. Edward Sulkin Visiting Professorship, S. Edward Sulkin Memorial Scholarship for Graduate Students, and The Lorraine Sulkin Schein Distinguished Professorship in Microbial Pathogenesis.
