Applying to the Medical School at UT Southwestern requires submission of two separate applications. You must first submit an application through the Texas Medical and Dental Schools Application Service followed by a secondary application through the UT Southwestern MyGateWay site. Applications are accepted starting on May 1 and the deadline to submit both the TMDSAS and secondary application is October 1.
Applications are thoroughly reviewed by an Admissions Committee appointed by the Dean of the Medical School. The committee is composed of faculty members from both basic science and clinical departments.
Interviews are by invitation only and take place from early September through early January. An invitation to interview is a good sign that your application has reached an advanced stage of consideration, but it does not guarantee admission.
It is the goal of UT Southwestern to accept only those students who are guaranteed to complete the full four years of the curriculum based on citizenship or permanent resident status. Therefore, only applicants who are permanent U.S. residents or American citizens will be considered for interview and admission.
