International Students

UT Southwestern is a dynamic and diverse learning community that welcomes hundreds of students from around the world each year. As you prepare your application, here are some important tips to remember:

Academic Prerequisites

Complete all the program prerequisites, even if you earned a medical degree in another country.

Official transcripts from each college or university you have attended must be translated into English. Please mail official transcripts (not notarized copies) to:

UT Southwestern Admissions Office
5323 Harry Hines Blvd.
Dallas, TX 75390-9162

Please keep copies of your transcripts. Your originals will not be returned.

Transcript Evaluations

Submit an independent evaluation of your transcripts if you received your degree from a university outside of the U.S. Please send these evaluations to the Admissions Office before the application deadline.

The evaluation should include:

  • Final grade for each undergraduate course
  • Semester credit hours
  • Subject breakdown

Language Proficiency Exams

International applicants whose native language is not English must submit Language Proficiency Exam scores. We accept the following test scores:

  • DuoLingo
  • TOEFL Essentials

(Applicants whose education language of instruction is English but who reside in a non-English-speaking country must still submit Language Proficiency Exam scores.)

While there are no minimum score requirements, competitive scores are typically equivalent to a TOEFL iBT score of 100 or above.
