How to Apply

The Emergency Medicine Residency Program accepts applications through the Association of American Medical Colleges’ Electronic Residency Application System. We participate in the National Resident Matching Program. It is necessary for applicants to participate in the match as well.

Please apply through ERAS to complete the application process. Following a review of the application materials, select candidates will be invited to participate in the interview process. 

Application Timeline

The earliest we will send interview invitations will be on Thursday, October 15, 2020. Although we will send most invitations on October 15th, we will continue our application review process until November.

Our interview dates this year will be as follows:
October: 30th
November: 3rd, 6th, 10th, 13th, 17th, and 20th
December: 1st, 4th, 8th, 11th, 15th, and 18th

International Medical Graduates

Applications are only accepted through ERAS and you must meet the following criteria:

  • You must be certified by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates
  • We accept non-U.S. citizen applicants only with ECFMG-sponsored J-1 visas for residency training at UT Southwestern. We do not sponsor or accept H-1B or O-1 visa applicants for residency training. Further information is available through UT Southwestern’s Office of International Affairs.
  • You must be eligible for a post-graduate Training Permit from the State of Texas to train here. Information is available from the Texas State Board of Medical Examiners.
