About the Clinical Informatics Fellowship Program

Established in 2022 under the leadership of Christoph Lehmann, M.D., UT Southwestern's Clinical Informatics Fellowship Program is now under the direction of Robert Turer, M.D.

Graduates of the program have become informatics leaders in their respective domains, including operations, education, and research.

Clinical informatics fellows participate in a variety of activities, including:

Clinical Informatics Rotations

Fellows rotate with health IT executive leaders, directors, and analysts within UT Southwestern, Children's Health, Parkland Health, and the Dallas Veterans Affairs Medical Center to learn how to integrate clinical data and information technology into patient care and to lead digital transformation.

Research

Fellows participate in scholarly efforts related to applied clinical informatics. Prior fellows have focused on clinical decision support, user-centered design, deployment and evaluation of AI tools, and applied data science. Fellows have the opportunity to collaborate with Ph.D.-level data scientists and biostatisticians through the Clinical Informatics Center and Center for Translational Science Awards (CTSA) Program at UT Southwestern.

Didactic Training

Fellows participate in a unique didactic curriculum, including flipped classroom content tailored to each rotation, journal club, leadership management and mentorship group, and selections from our Master of Science in Health Informatics Program.
