Children's Medical Center Dallas, the primary pediatric teaching hospital for UT Southwestern, is the principal site for clinical training of UT Southwestern pediatric infectious disease fellows. Directly adjacent to the UT Southwestern Medical Center campus, the hospital is consistently ranked as one of the nation's finest children's hospitals by U.S. News & World Report. Its proximity to UT Southwestern allows clinical fellows to move easily between clinical and research training venues.

Fellows see patients in consultation on all services of the hospital. The hospital has 488 licensed beds, including a Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and a 44-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. The Heart Center, with a 32-bed Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit, has performed more heart transplants than any other pediatric center for three consecutive years.

The Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders manages 300 to 400 new oncology diagnoses and performs 45 to 50 stem cell transplants per year. The Pediatric Dialysis Program is one of the largest in the nation. The hospital is nationally ranked in all 11 pediatric specialties recognized by U.S. News & World Report.

At Parkland Memorial Hospital, just across the street from Children's, our Division provides consultations for pediatric burn patients and for newborns in a 96-bed Level III NICU.

The new Moody Children's Hospital, currently under construction, will be one of the largest pediatric hospitals in the country. It's expected to open in 2031.

UT Southwestern Medical Center ranks among the top academic medical centers in the world. As a premier educational, clinical, and research institution, trainees have the chance to interact with nationally known educators, clinicians, and scientists, including:

  • Nobel Prize winners
  • Members of the National Academy of Sciences
