Pediatric Infectious Disease Clinical Affairs

The Division of Pediatric Infectious Disease consults with and cares for infants and children at Children’s Medical Center Dallas, Parkland Memorial Hospital, Texas Scottish Rite Hospital, Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas (THD), and William P. Clements Jr. University Hospital. Our patients span the pediatric age group (including some adults as well), with conditions ranging from community-acquired infections to complex cases in patients with primary or acquired immunodeficiency, including oncology patients, transplant recipients, and international travelers.
Our clinical experience is extensive. Between the three hospitals on campus (Children’s Medical Center Dallas, Parkland, and Clements University Hospital), there are approximately 120,000 outpatient visits, 9,000 pediatric admissions, and 16,000 deliveries per year. A high proportion of these have infectious disease problems; therefore, trainees have the opportunity to see many common infections and most of the rarer disorders.
The Division has two active inpatient infectious disease consultation services: one dedicated to general infectious diseases and the other dedicated to infections in the immunocompromised host (oncology and transplant). The Division has an active ambulatory service for children with infectious diseases.
Outpatient clinics include:
- The AIDS-Related Medical Services (ARMS) Clinic – the largest pediatric HIV clinic in North Texas

- Transplant Infectious Diseases
- Tuberculosis (in collaboration with Dallas County Department of Health and Human Services)
