About the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Fellowship Program

Our Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Fellowship Program was established in 1983 and has been accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) since 1987. The fellowship program is currently under the direction of Tanya Watt, M.D.

Our trainees come from across North America. Many of the more than 90 graduates of our program have become national and international leaders in some of the nation’s finest medical centers.

Our large patient population ensures clinical experience in all areas of pediatric hematology/oncology.

  • 300-400 new oncology diagnoses per year
  • 700 patients actively followed in ACE (After the Cancer Experience) clinic
  • 45-50 stem cell transplants per year
  • 175 bleeding disorders patients per year
  • 100 thrombosis patients per year
  • 100 bone marrow failure patients per year
  • 900 active sickle cell patients
  • 250 active hemophilia patients
  • >300 general heme visits per year

This structure allows disease-specific groups to establish standards and oversee critical components of care as well as lead research studies in a wide variety of areas.
