IM Intern Onboarding
We welcome you to our nationally ranked Internal Medicine Residency Program! Our team could not be more excited about you joining our program and we look forward to supporting you during your residency training. Please mark your calendars for Intern Orientation which will take place from June 17th – June 30th. The hire date will be June 16th, 2026.
Onboarding Documentation Timeline
Due March 27, 2026 – Intake Form FIRST STEP
The collected information will be used to initiate onboarding for each hospital site.
Due March 27, 2026 – Offer Letter
The program offer letter will be sent to you via DocuSign. Employment contracts from employer (Parkland/UTSW) will be sent closer to start date.
Due March 27, 2026 – Scrubs & Jacket Survey
- Each is intern is provided two pair of scrubs during orientation courtesy of the Department of Internal Medicine. Embroidered department jackets will also be provided by your specific program. This survey will gather the information need to purchase the appropriate scrubs and jackets (if this pertains to you) that you will receive during intern orientation this upcoming June. Please complete the survey as soon as possible as it takes a significant amount of time to fulfill the orders and to have the garments embroidered.

- Keep a copy of your NPI confirmation and the final NPI Number documentation for your records. You will need this for the rest of your career as a physician.
Due April 15, 2026 – Physician in Training (PIT) License
- The process of applying for your Physician in Training license begins with Parkland GME’s team. You will be receiving instructions in April from Parkland GME on the steps you will take to complete the application.
- For those of you who have not received your diploma, please acquire a verification of graduation or certificate of completion from your school’s registrar office.
Due June 1, 2026 – ACLS Training
You must have an AHA Accredited or American Red Cross Accredited in-person ACLS certification valid through Spring 2028
ACLS certifications are valid for 2 years and you will have to renew in 2028. We recommend registering now to avoid any delays in certification prior to residency start date.Unfortunately, we cannot reimburse for course fees that are prior to residency start date
If your certification is up for expiration in June/July of this year, we recommend you go ahead and renew now to avoid any delays/conflicts due to orientation and the start of the academic year
We do not require BLS, you only need ACLS

- Depending on what document(s) you'd like to provide, you can either choose one document from List A or two documents, one from List B and one from List C.
- Whatever forms of identification you send us, please make sure you bring these exact ones with you to orientation when we officially complete the I-9 process.
W-9 Request for Taxpayer Identification Number and Certification
- Complete once you secure a current Texas address
- Follow the instructions on page 3 of the form.
Frequently Asked Questions
- How do I access my account information?
UT Southwestern will send you information regarding your UT Southwestern account (employee ID, Username, UTSW email address, and instructions for how to claim your account).
Your will receive your Parkland account information during orientation week.
- When should I expect my paycheck?
As a Parkland employed intern, you will be paid bi-weekly.
As a UT Southwestern employed intern, you will be paid monthly.
We are currently waiting on the confirmed pay dates for your first paycheck and will post the the site when available.
- What benefits am I eligible for?
You will be able to enroll in benefits after your start date, 6/16/2026.
Any benefits you enroll in will begin on your start date of 6/16/2026.
- When do rotations start?
Rotations will begin on Wednesday, July 1st
