Program Leadership

Samir M. Parikh, M.D.

Professor and Chair

UT Southwestern has long been defined by a commitment to discovery, rigorous training, and care that places patients at the center. Our Department builds on this foundation by training physicians who are not only clinically excellent, but also thoughtful, curious, and prepared to lead.

Our residency and fellowship programs reflect the breadth and depth of our institution. Across three distinct clinical settings, residents care for a diverse patient population and encounter a wide range of clinical challenges that sharpen judgment and deepen experience. They train alongside faculty who are actively advancing their fields and who view teaching as integral to their work.

We place a strong emphasis on inquiry. Residents are encouraged to ask meaningful questions, engage in research, and connect scientific discovery with clinical practice. Under the leadership of Dr. Salahuddin “Dino” Kazi, together with our associate program directors and chief residents, the program is guided by a shared commitment to disciplined thinking, continuous learning, and patient-centered care.

The strength of our program lies in the people. Our trainees and faculty bring a range of perspectives and experiences, fostering an environment where learning is collaborative and expectations are high. The relationships formed here are central to professional growth and to the continued strength of the Department.

We consider it a profound responsibility and a privilege to prepare the next generation of physicians to deliver excellent care today and to contribute to the advances that will shape medicine in the years ahead.
