  • Mentorship that is hands-on and personalized: Fellows work closely with faculty to shape clinical, research, and career goals.

Director, Adolescent Medicine Fellowship Program

I love my work in adolescent medicine and hope fellows leave this program feeling the same sense of purpose and fulfillment. I was first introduced to the field during residency, where I found that caring for adolescents, during a time when many lifelong health behaviors take shape, felt especially meaningful. Adolescent medicine offers the opportunity to support young people as they navigate important decisions about their health, relationships, and well-being. I believe every adolescent should have a trusted physician who can provide thoughtful, developmentally appropriate care during this critical stage. It is a privilege (and a lot of fun) to work with adolescents and their families, and just as rewarding to train future physicians to become skilled, compassionate leaders in adolescent health."

Testimonials

Eesha Farooqi, M.D.
"Right after my interview, UTSW was my first choice for numerous reasons – but most importantly for its people. The amount of time and energy the faculty invests in its learners is priceless and truly allows you to grow into the physician, researcher, and educator you want to be. All of this is surrounded by the volume, complexities, and opportunities of an urban academic center, which is hard to beat."

I could not have asked for a better fellowship experience than UTSW. The fellowship embodies a small but mighty program culture: small enough to ensure individual attention and support, but large enough to provide a variety of experiences and exposures. The result is a perfect balance between supervision and autonomy that builds a strong foundation for life as an attending physician. What further sets this program apart is its flexibility. Fellows are genuinely supported in nurturing their individual interests, whether through extensive procedural opportunities, research, or the ability to pursue advanced education, including completion of an MPH. There's truly something for everyone here. In structure, support, and education, this program is truly unmatched!"
