Adolescent Medicine Fellowship Program Research and Scholarly Activities

Research training is integrated throughout UT Southwestern’s Adolescent Medicine Fellowship Program and designed to be flexible and individualized.
Fellows complete a scholarly project during training, with support to:
- Develop a research question
- Design a study
- Analyze data
- Present findings
Each fellow works with a mentorship committee tailored to their interests and career goals.
During their research, fellows receive access to strong institutional resources, including biostatistics support, clinical data, and experienced research mentors.
Training is hands-on, flexible, and closely tied to clinical care, preparing fellows to pursue academic, clinical, or quality-focused careers. Advanced degrees are available. Many fellows choose to get a master’s in public health during their fellowship training.
Fellows participate in regular research meetings and academic sessions focused on building practical skills. Projects are often closely connected to clinical care, allowing fellows to study questions that arise from real-world adolescent health practice.
