EV Charging Stations

EV (Electric Vehicle) Charging Stations

UTSW now provides charging stations for EV drivers to plug in and power up. As part of our commitment to supporting sustainable programs, we’re excited to partner with ChargePoint to install our first Level 2 electric vehicle charging station. This is a pilot program.

  • Location: North Campus Garage 1 underneath buildings NA-NH.
  • Parking rule: Charging station parking is reserved for actively charging electric vehicles with active North Campus Garage 1 permits only.
  • Charging cost: $1/hour up to 4 hours, $5/hour thereafter.
  • An active EV permit is required to access North Campus Garage 1.

How to Charge Your EV

After plugging in your vehicle, start a charging session by using the ChargePoint smartphone app. Make sure you are signed in to your account in the app. (Tesla drivers will need the Tesla charging adapter.)

Option 1: From the ChargePoint app, choose the station and click "Start Charge."

Option 2: Use "Tap to Charge" to wave your smartphone near the charger.

  • iPhone setup: In the ChargePoint app go to "Menu," select "Account," and then tap "Manage Cards." Pick "Set It Up” to add your ChargePoint pass to Apple Wallet.
  • Android setup: Go to the smartphone's settings menu and enable NFC.
