Become a Standardized Patient

A standardized patient (SP) is a person who’s been trained to portray a sick patient in an encounter with a health care professional. SPs are also trained to evaluate the learner and provide effective feedback from a patient’s perspective.

Qualifications to become a standardized patient include:

  • Proficiency with the English language, both oral and written
  • Good memorization skills
  • Great attention to detail
  • Coachable
  • Commitment
  • Comfortable with your own health and body

No acting experience is needed.
