Medical Genetics and Genomics Training Program

The Medical Genetics and Genomics Training Program at UT Southwestern Medical Center provides comprehensive training in the diagnosis, management, and prevention of inherited and genomic disorders across the lifespan.

Through an integrated curriculum that combines outstanding clinical experiences, multidisciplinary education, laboratory genetics exposure, and research opportunities, trainees develop the knowledge and skills needed to become leaders in genomic medicine, patient care, education, and scientific discovery.

The program serves a diverse patient population and offers training across pediatric, adult, prenatal, cancer, and metabolic genetics.

  • Comprehensive clinical exposure to pediatric, adult, prenatal, cancer, and metabolic genetics
  • Training at nationally recognized institutions, including UT Southwestern Medical Center, Children's Health, and Parkland Health
  • Close collaboration with the McDermott Center for Human Growth and Development, one of the nation's leading centers for human genetics research
  • Access to advanced molecular, biochemical, and cytogenetic laboratories
  • Individualized elective and research opportunities that support diverse career goals in academic medicine, clinical practice, and genomic research
