How to Apply to the Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine Fellowship Program

Positions in UT Southwestern's Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine Fellowship Program are available for five trainees per year, generally beginning in July, although start dates may be flexible.

Applicants must have:

• An M.D. degree or equivalent
• Completed, or be enrolled in, a three-year general pediatrics residency program or one of the alternate American Board of Pediatrics pathways
• S. citizenship, permanent residency, or J-1 visa status. UT Southwestern Medical Center generally does not offer H-1B visas, with very few exceptions. International medical graduates must have valid ECFMG certification for the duration of fellowship.

Before starting training in a UT Southwestern graduate medical education program, matched applicants must provide proof of passing USMLE Step 2 CK. Applicants must provide proof of passage of USMLE Step 1 and Step 2 CK before their application can be considered, and proof of Step 3 is required before fellowship begins.

Applicants should apply through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) and participate in the Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine Match through NRMP. Application materials should include:

• Curriculum vitae
• Statement of long-term goals
• Three letters of recommendation

Matched fellows must complete credentialing at UT Southwestern, Children's Medical Center, and Parkland Memorial Hospital. They must also have a National Provider Identifier and either a full Texas medical license or another state license with a Texas physician-in-training permit.
