Fellows as Educators

Our fellows deliver a predefined didactic curriculum to pediatric residents rotating in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, which allows them the opportunity to develop their skills as medical educators.

Rotations

Below is the typical breakdown of rotations during the three-year fellowship:

YearPICUCVICUAnesthesiaResearch
First year 5 months 2 months 1 month 4 months
Second year 4.5 months 1.5 months   6 months
Third year 4 months 1 month   7 months

We recently transitioned to a primarily night float system. Night shifts and calls are accounted for in the total months listed above. Vacation can be taken during research time.

Fellows have the opportunity to tailor their clinical rotations to meet their individual career goals by adding electives. Examples include anesthesia, palliative care, and transport.
