Pediatric Allergy and Immunology Clinical Affairs
Division of Pediatric Allergy and Immunology faculty takes on the most complex cases, treating patients from throughout Texas and the region.
We consult at Children's Health℠ Children’s Medical Center, Parkland Memorial Hospital, and UT Southwestern University Hospitals. We also provide outpatient clinic services – including evaluation, diagnostics, and treatment for asthma, general allergy, food allergy, and immunology – at Children’s Medical Center Dallas and the Allergy, Immunology, and Pulmonary Clinic at UT Southwestern’s Professional Office Building 2.
Clinical Immunology Program
Directed by Christian Wysocki, M.D., Ph.D., the Clinical Immunology Program serves a large geographical referral area encompassing North Texas, eastern New Mexico, Oklahoma, western Louisiana, and southern Arkansas. The team also includes Hannie Zomer Bolaños, M.D., Lauren Franzblau, M.D., and physician assistant Nicole Soucy.
The Clinical Immunology Program employs a multidisciplinary model to provide efficient and effective care. By collaborating with UT Southwestern experts in other divisions and departments and seeing patients together, we improve communication. Specialty clinics include:
- Intestinal Immunology Clinic – in collaboration with pediatric gastroenterology
- PITCH Clinic – in collaboration with pediatric hematology and oncology
- 22q11.2 Clinic – in collaboration with genetics, plastic surgery, hematology and oncology, and infectious disease
Additionally, Drs. Wysocki and Franzblau staff adult immunodeficiency clinics at UT Southwestern and Parkland Hospital. This approach provides state-of-the-art treatment for adult patients with immunodeficiency disorders, and importantly, supports a smooth transition for adolescents and young adults moving from pediatric to adult clinics while maintaining continuity of care.
The program was awarded recognition by the Jeffrey Modell Foundation as a Center for Excellence for the diagnosis and treatment of primary immunodeficiency diseases. This comprehensive program provides both diagnostic and state-of-the-art treatment options for patients with primary immunodeficiency diseases. The clinical program also partners with members of the basic immunology department at UT Southwestern in research and educational efforts.
Food Allergy Center
The Food Allergy Center at Children’s Health and UT Southwestern is a nationally recognized leader in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of food allergies, providing comprehensive care for children with both IgE-mediated and non-IgE–mediated food allergic disorders.
Serving as a regional and national referral hub, we offer expert management of complex conditions ranging from anaphylaxis to eosinophilic gastrointestinal diseases. We perform hundreds of oral food challenges (OFCs) each year, making us one of the most experienced centers in the country in safely confirming diagnoses and assessing the resolution of food allergies.
Since its inception in 2010, our Center has conducted more than 25 clinical trials, establishing it as a leading research site in the nation and enabling patients to access innovative therapies before they are widely available. Sublingual (SLIT) and epicutaneous (EPIT) immunotherapy are available exclusively through research studies.
Our integrated oral immunotherapy (OIT) program, directed by Malika Gupta, M.D., is offered as part of routine clinical care. The program offers OIT for children with food allergies, with the goal of increasing tolerance and reducing the risk of severe reactions. When appropriate, the program also incorporates omalizumab (anti-IgE therapy) to improve safety and outcomes.
Each patient begins with a comprehensive evaluation to review their allergy history, testing, and overall fit for the program. Families receive education on all available treatment options before a personalized care plan is developed. The program takes an individualized and evidence-based approach, with a focus on safety, shared decision-making, and long-term support.
We are home to the Dallas Eosinophilic Esophagitis Program (DEEP), a multidisciplinary clinic in collaboration with gastroenterology that provides coordinated, comprehensive care for children with eosinophilic esophagitis and related disorders. In addition, we lead collaborative initiatives such as the Southwest FPIES Consortium, a partnership with Baylor College of Medicine, Dell Children’s, and the University of Arkansas, which has built the largest FPIES patient database to date.
Through our partnership with Jeffrey SoRelle, M.D., in the Department of Pathology, we are pioneering studies to identify the genetic and molecular drivers of allergic diseases, leveraging multi-omics approaches to improve risk prediction and personalize therapy.
Together, these clinical, research, and collaborative efforts place the Food Allergy Center at the forefront of discovery and innovation, transforming how food allergies are diagnosed, treated, and ultimately prevented.
Asthma and Allergy Clinic
In addition to other allergic diseases, Jeffrey Chambliss, M.D., Rory Nicolaides, M.D., Arjola Cosper, D.O., and Tim Chow, M.D., evaluate and care for children with persistent allergic asthma along with a volunteer faculty member, William Neaville, M.D. The targeted therapies for these patients may include biologic therapies and/or allergy shots offered through the immunotherapy clinic.
The immunotherapy clinic also treats patients with allergic rhinitis and utilizes biologic therapy in the care of patients with asthma and chronic urticaria. Dr. Chow has a particular interest in pediatric drug allergy.

Pediatric Drug Allergy Program
Approximately one in five kids has a labeled drug allergy, ranging from the ubiquitous penicillin allergy to adverse reactions to chemotherapeutics, monoclonal antibodies, gene therapeutics, and perioperative agents. To meet this need, Dr. Timothy Chow started the Pediatric Drug Allergy Program at UTSW in 2021.
We are one of five dedicated comprehensive pediatric drug allergy programs nationally, and the only one in the South-Central United States. We have emerged as a leader in the field of pediatric drug allergy through our innovative clinical care, productive qualitative research output, and broad educational efforts. Severe Asthma Program
This multidisciplinary clinic provides collaborative care for patients with poorly controlled, severe asthma. Dr. Jeffrey Chambliss works alongside colleagues in the Division of Pediatric Pulmonology and Sleep Medicine, together with a team of respiratory and physical therapists, asthma educators, social workers, and psychologists, to optimize asthma control for patients.
Utilizing a team approach, patients are prescribed inhaled therapies and injectable biologics according to guideline-based recommendations.
