Developmental-Behavioral Pediatric Fellowship

The Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics Fellowship Program at UT Southwestern is a three-year program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) effective October 24, 2018. The program is based in Dallas, which is part of a dynamic, diverse, and growing metroplex.

Training will be accomplished within a framework which emphasizes proficiency in six competencies articulated by the Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical Education.

The program is approved for one fellow every other year and the curriculum has been developed to promote a positive and engaging educational climate with the goal of successfully meeting criteria for certification in Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics. Fellows will have the opportunity to work at Children’s Medical Center Dallas, a 490-bed pediatric hospital, as well as Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, and several other clinics within the community. UT Southwestern is one of the country’s best medical schools and a world-renowned research center offering a variety of research opportunities.

Our program offers exposure to a comprehensive multidisciplinary team that includes medical students, residents, advanced practice providers, and nurses and affords the opportunity to develop as a teacher, team member, and team leader.

Mission Statement

Clinical Excellence:

  • To train the next generation of developmental-behavioral pediatricians for broad spectrum practice utilizing solid skills in standardized assessments as well as clinical interviews and observations, with the goal of providing compassionate and evidence based care to diagnostically and psychosocially diverse populations.

  • To provide fellows with instruction on research methodology along with close mentorship to facilitate valuable contributions to advancing the field over the course of their careers.

Advocacy and Leadership Formation:

  • To offer fellows opportunities for close involvement in community agencies and projects for which they undertake a progressive leadership role, with the goal of preparing them for future advocacy endeavors.
