Pediatric Hospital Medicine

The Division of Pediatric Hospital Medicine (PHM) is a relatively new division established in 2019 after the American Board of Pediatrics recognized PHM as the newest subspecialty.

We take pride in providing the highest quality of care to hospitalized children in a safe and family-centered care model. We are among the top pediatric hospital medicine divisions in the nation, with an excellent reputation and world-class programs for patient care, training, and clinical research.

Highlights of our division include:

  • Largest program in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex: Our team provides care for over 50% of hospitalized children at Children’s Medical Center Dallas and serves as the largest regional referral center.
  • 24/7 in-house coverage: Expert care is delivered around the clock by in-house attending physicians using a multidisciplinary approach for medically complex and acutely ill children.
  • Excellence in patient care and education: Our faculty are nationally recognized for clinical excellence and teaching, and are deeply engaged in training medical students, residents, and fellows.
  • National collaboration and leadership: Our faculty collaborate in major national research and quality networks, including PRIS (Pediatric Research in Inpatient Settings), VIP (Value in Pediatrics), and the CHA Health Services Research Academy. One of our faculty members also founded the national Committee on Intermediate Care Units.
  • Commitment to high-quality, safe care: Every aspect of our work is driven by a mission to deliver the safest, most effective care to every child, every time.
