General and Community Pediatrics Education

The Division of General and Community Pediatrics provides well-rounded educational opportunities for trainees. Our faculty delivers didactic lectures to students, residents, and fellows on pediatric issues. We also mentor students, residents, and fellows on scholarly projects, including those focused on quality improvement, research, and education.
Medical Students
We help train medical students on their journey to becoming the physicians of tomorrow.
Our Division faculty includes the Dean of Medical Students, mentors to medical students through UT Southwestern’s Academic Colleges, and an Assistant Director for the Colleges Program.
Residents
Division faculty provide clinical training to pediatrics, internal medicine-pediatrics, pediatric neurology, and triple-board (pediatrics, psychiatry, and child psychology) residents at the Children’s Health Medical Group (CHMG) Medical District pediatric primary care practice, which serves as a continuity clinic site to over 30 residents.
In addition, we offer experiential learning to all interns in a pediatrics residency training program through the Community Pediatrics and Advocacy rotation. This rotation focuses on social determinants of health (or nonmedical drivers of health) and introduces residents to resources within the community.
