James Dazhe Cao, M.D.

Division Chief, Medical Toxicology

The Division of Medical Toxicology is fully committed to providing world-class patient care to those we help and world-class education to those we teach.

Our Work

We care for many patients in a number of ways, providing the only consistent, inpatient bedside toxicology care in North Texas and the only outpatient toxicology care in the state. Our patient care is extended by our relationship with the North Texas Poison Center at Parkland, one of more than 50 poison centers in the country.

Our Faculty

Among our faculty are leaders and experts in addiction medicine and forensic toxicology, as well as medical review officers and medical directors. These renowned physicians bring an immense amount of expertise and experience to the table, making our program ever on the edge of new clinical, educational, and research opportunities.

In the Community

In addition to quality patient care, our Division strives to provide clinical medical toxicology education to our fellows, other physicians, and nonphysician health care providers, as well as expanding the knowledge within our field through scholarly studies.

The opportunities in our subspecialty's future are endless. We are growing in our work with our community, coordinating with addiction resources to optimize patient care, partnering with other physician leaders in toxicology through the American College of Medical Toxicology, and working closely with colleagues who have an interest in drugs, such as the DEA.

We continue to expand patient care as reflected by our largest number of consultations during the last academic year.
