Meet the employees honored at this year's Quarter Century Club virtual celebration

Dr. Roger H. Unger, a longtime Professor of Internal Medicine, a preeminent authority on glucagon and the development of diabetes, and the founding Director of the Touchstone Center for Diabetes Research at UT Southwestern, died Aug. 23. He was 96.

Mr. Davis, hired as Associate Vice President of Information Security and Chief Information Security Officer for UT Southwestern in December, has visited with many departments since his arrival to broaden his knowledge of the campus, the staff working behind the scenes, and how information security enables UT Southwestern’s core missions.

The third annual Simulation-Based Quality Improvement and Research Forum on May 13 became the first UT Southwestern conference to be held virtually using the Microsoft Teams platform. More than 430 people from over 70 institutions took part in the conference, including representatives from UT Dallas, UT Arlington, Baylor Scott & White, Penn State University, University of Chicago, and Northwestern University. One attendee even signed on from Lisbon, Portugal.

“I think preparing our workforce to care for the complex needs of older adults, especially related to cognitive care, is critical at this time in history,” said Dr. Camp, who has been named the inaugural holder of the Jake Tobolowsky Professorship in Psychiatry, in Memory of Helen B. Tobolowsky and in Honor of Dr. David M. Tobolowsky.

Due to COVID-19 precautions, Ms. Hernandez, MBA, B.S.N., RN, delivered her annual message to hundreds of nurses and medical professionals via livestream on May 8. The event took place during National Nurses Week, the American Nurses Association’s weeklong celebration that honors nurses’ contributions to society each year from May 6 to May 12. Her remarks coincided with the World Health Organization’s designation of 2020 as Year of the Nurse and Midwife, and touched on topics like nurse resiliency.

Now the lab-produced sanitizer is helping keep hands germ-free for UT Southwestern caregivers and staff.
