Featured Programs
Advanced Endoscopy
As a premier global pediatric endoscopy program, the Division is a leader in procedural and scholarly work, and has recently added an advanced training program, accepting our first fellow in 2025.
Hepatology and Liver Transplant
Care of children with liver disorders is fundamental to our field, and the Hepatology and Transplant Hepatology team has grown to include seven core faculty members. The program offers advanced care using a multidisciplinary model, including transplant surgeons, dedicated pathologists, infectious disease specialists, interventional radiologists, pediatric ERCP specialists, and more. We now perform over 20 pediatric liver transplants annually,
Cystic Fibrosis
The childhood Cystic Fibrosis Program, co-directed by Meghana Sathe, M.D. (pediatric gastroenterology), and Preeti Sharma, M.D. (pediatric pulmonology and sleep medicine), provides a comprehensive team approach to this complex and chronic disease. Not only do they serve the 300 patients with cystic fibrosis (CF) cared for at Children’s Medical Center Dallas, but they also provide consultative services in the areas of gastroenterology, nutrition, and liver disease in CF to other centers in North Texas.
The Center is actively involved in many national multicenter trials, including clinical trials of new and innovative treatments. The CF team is dedicated to quality improvement, a mainstay in bettering the lives of people with CF, and all members participate in both local and national quality improvement projects.
Multiple members of the CF community participate annually in the North American Cystic Fibrosis Conference, presenting abstracts, making presentations, moderating, and participating in teaching sessions.
Inflammatory Bowel Disease
The Southwestern Center for Pediatric Inflammatory Bowel Disease at Children's Medical Center Dallas is the only center of its kind in North Texas to offer a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach to the diagnosis, treatment, education, and research of pediatric inflammatory bowel disease. The clinical team consists of five dedicated pediatric gastroenterologists with expertise in the ever-evoloving world of complex biologic therapy, working in conjunction with surgeons, psychologists and dietiticians to optimize care, growth, nutrition, and well-being.
