UT Southwestern faculty members Philip Greilich, M.D., M.Sc., and Janine Prange-Kiel, Ph.D., have been selected to join the UT System’s Kenneth I. Shine, M.D., Academy of Health Science Education in recognition of their outstanding teaching. New members will be inducted at the Academy’s annual Innovations in Health Science Education Conference, scheduled Feb. 22-23, 2024, in Austin.

Six UT Southwestern faculty investigators and clinicians – from Internal Medicine, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Dermatology, and Pediatrics – have been elected into two of the country’s most respected medical honor societies: three into the American Society for Clinical Investigation and three into the Association of American Physicians. Drs. Denise Marciano, Joshua Mendell, and Richard Wang were inducted into the ASCI, and Drs. Suzanne D. Conzen, Ralph DeBerardinis, and Dwight Towler joined the ranks of the AAP.

Dr. Beth Levine, a Professor of Internal Medicine and Microbiology whose pioneering research identified the role of autophagy in the development of human diseases, died June 15 at her home in Dallas. She was 60.

Dr. Rody Cox is known for his crisp signature bow tie, his pressed white coat, and his memory that holds over 90 years of life experiences. After 31 “wonderful” years at UT Southwestern, and 67 years as an attending physician, Dr. Cox has stopped making rounds and retired.
