Since 2013, Edward Daniel has been a familiar presence at UT Southwestern Match Day celebrations, performing the drumroll that gives eager medical students the signal to rip into envelopes that reveal their residency program matches.

James Martin's extraordinary life took him from the small town of St. James, Missouri, to the burgeoning city of Dallas. After attending the Vichy Normal and Business Institute in Vichy, Missouri, he completed studies in general medicine at St. Louis College of Physicians and Surgeons.

Dr. Jack Reynolds left such an impression on students that they frequently asked to take his classes a second time. Fourth-year medical students lined up for his elective course in diagnostic radiology, which simply became known as "Jack Reynolds."

Dr. Priyanka Gaur came from a family of engineers on her father’s side and doctors on her mother’s. She headed off to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) for college thinking she would explore engineering, but her desire to care for patients led her to medicine instead.

The American Chemical Society (ACS) Bridge Program, which was created to increase the number of Black, Latino, and Indigenous students earning doctorates in chemistry, has named UT Southwestern as the first academic medical center in the nation to serve as a Bridge Site.

In 2007, a chronic kidney disease diagnosis led to a challenging journey for Maureen Silvestre. Pregnancy was considered risky due to the disease. Despite losing her first child, Hans, she received exceptional care at UT Southwestern. A successful kidney transplant from an anonymous donor restored her health.
