New and Improved eAgreements and eGrants Coming in 2026

SPA is excited to announce a significant upgrade to the eResearch platform, including the eGrants and eAgreements systems, coming in spring 2026.

Working with UT Southwestern Information Resources (IR) and Huron Consulting, SPA has analyzed current system functionality, integration, and metric reporting capabilities to enable a major re-design, which will enhance performance, improve security, and provide a more seamless user experience for all system users.

Key Benefits of the Upgrade

  • Enhanced system-to-system integration for improved system communication and workflow
  • Improved metric and reporting capabilities on the information that is most important to you
  • Standardized platform with an enhanced user interface
  • Better-defined roles and access security

Questions & Answers

As SPA progresses through this exciting project, we are compiling questions with helpful answers here. Because this upgrade is an evolving process, please check this page often for updated information.

Q: Will the new eGrants system allow adding people to grant budgets without having to request eGrants access for them in advance?

A: This is still to be determined as we are currently evaluating the capabilities of the new system.

Q: Do we expect changes to the Salary/Wage Reporting process with the new eGrants system?

A: As of now, we do not expect any changes.

Q: Is there a user test group (department staff and Principal Investigators) that will provide feedback and input about functionality/features before new system design is finalized?

A: Throughout the project, we aim to build general system awareness by showing the system “out of the box” and gathering initial user reactions, which may inform additional requirements. During iterations, we will seek targeted feedback on specific design elements – particularly high-touch areas – by involving user groups or Champions in shaping wording, layout, and usability.

Q:  Has there been any consideration to incorporating a built-in tool for generating Other Support documents? This feature would be incredibly helpful in streamlining submissions and ensuring consistency across departments.

A: SPA has expressed interest in this functionality as well. Per the vendor’s roadmap for early next year, support for ORCID integrations is planned. ORCID is the sole mechanism for integrating with SciENcv, which is the required platform for generating current and pending/other support documents. No additional 'Other Support' capabilities are planned at this time.
