Explore Alumni Professional Outcomes
We gather alumni data using multiple strategies, including:
- Reaching out through the trainee’s former mentor
- Directly emailing alumni
- Searching for information through social media (primarily LinkedIn and Google)
Many alumni participate in additional postdoctoral training or education, including former UTSW graduate students continuing here as postdocs for several months after earning their degree or before starting another program at another institution.
Most postdoc alumni work in the academic sector, but UT Southwestern graduates fulfill diverse job functions in their various fields. The career outcomes are likely influenced by UT Southwestern being a stand-alone medical center in the south-central region of the U.S. that has no undergraduates and that trains a primarily international postdoc community with visa limitations.
