About the Leadership Initiative

The Leadership Initiative at UT Southwestern for non-faculty employees endeavors to foster institutional excellence by encouraging personal growth and providing professional enrichment via three primary leadership programs.

These programs provide a comprehensive pathway for eligible employees to grow and mature in their careers as they learn and hone their leadership skills.

Aspiring Leaders

  • For employees not currently supervising others and not currently in a leadership role
  • 12-month program
  • Application required
  • Enrollment limited
  • Attend sessions prior to your first people-manager role

New Leader Onboarding

  • For leaders who recently joined UTSW in a people-manager role
  • For leaders who recently moved into a people-manager role from a previous role at UTSW
  • Tools and resources new leaders need to be successful
  • A networking community that allows new leaders to ask questions
  • Educational resources for ongoing self-development

Leadership Foundations

  • Required for eligible non-faculty people managers with supervisory responsibility
  • Builds leadership and management competencies among new and existing leaders
  • Four all-day sessions across consecutive months
  • Developed in partnership with UT Southwestern executive leaders
