Texas Financial Aid Displacement Advisory
UT Southwestern strongly encourages all eligible students to submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid(FAFSA) or, if ineligible for FAFSA, the
Texas Application for StateFinancial Aid (TASFA). Note: DO NOT file both a FAFSA anda TASFA. The FAFSA becomes available each October, and financial aid notices are sent annually in late Spring for theupcoming academic year.
Scholarships and grants are primarily awarded during the admissions process by the student’s academic program. Wealso recommend that students apply for scholarships from sources outside the university; more information is available on our website.
Students are responsible for promptly reporting any outside scholarships, grants, or financial support they receive atany point during their academic career at UT Southwestern. Students should financialaid@utsouthwestern.edu the Office of Student Financial Aid as soon as they become aware of any such funding. UT Southwestern willmake any necessary adjustments to a student’s financial aid based on outside funding (also called Financial Aid Displacement in the manner that will most benefit the student, reducing or cancelling loans before gift aid wheneverpossible and within federal regulation, state statute, and institutional policy.
Questions about outside scholarships or financial aid displacement should be sent by financialaid@utsouthwestern.edu.
