UTSW Now Offering Liver Shear Wave Elastography at Richardson

Richardson Clinic

Liver elastography allows for the measurement of liver stiffness, and is used in patients at risk for chronic liver disease. Philips elastography (ElastPQ) generates shear waves inside the liver by using a focused ultrasound beam ("pushing wave"). The system tracks shear wave propagation through tissues and measures the wave's velocity. Changes in shear wave velocity (SWV) correlate with tissue stiffness, a marker of fibrosis.
