Southwestern Health Resources Teams with UTSW Radiology for Utilization Conference

A radiology utilization conference for non-radiology providers will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2017, at the Gaylord Texan Resort and Conference Center in Grapevine. Sponsored by Southwestern Health Resources and UT Southwestern's Department of Radiology, the event is designed for primary care physicians, specialists, physician assistants, nurse practitioner, and technologists. Participants can receive 7.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ or 7.25 Category A Continuing Education Credits from the ASRT.

Upon completion of the course, participants should be able to:

  • Utilize imaging exams and interventions more appropriately as compared to national benchmark volume indices;
  • Improve ordering practices for imaging by applying evidence-based appropriateness criteria from national organizations;
  • Describe appropriate use of new innovations in radiologic diagnostic imaging and therapeutic procedures; and
  • Discuss the risks associated with adhering to or departing from established best practice guidelines in a healthcare system.
