Leveraging Artificial Intelligence in Education
AI is clearly changing the world quickly and training programs must keep pace. UT Southwestern as an institution has embraced this evolution. Our fellowship program has also leaned into this technology. Our electronic medical records have integrated ambient listening dictation tools. In addition, fellows employ AI-based resources such as OpenEvidence and others for clinical care. Finally, our program has built an AI-powered learning platform called RenalScholar to provide tailored resources to meet each trainee’s individual needs.
The RenalScholar platform consists of four resources
- a bank of ~4000 question which tracks the mastery level of each user,
- a lecture navigator that uses AI to parse >80 hours of video lectures to find content on demand,
- a study appraisal tool that helps critique publications
- a collection of landmark papers and discoveries which have shaped nephrology.
