APP Fellowship Program

UT Southwestern Medical Center offers several full-time, one-year postgraduate programs for advance practice providers (APPs) in both adult and pediatric specialties. These programs are designed to build upon foundational academic training by providing specialized didactic and clinical experiences. The goal is to prepare participants to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care within their chosen specialty. These opportunities align with UT Southwestern’s mission to educate, discover, and heal—reflecting our commitment to advancing healthcare excellence.

Our Mission

To provide APPs with a comprehensive education and mentorship, equipping them with the skills and knowledge needed for excellence in clinical practice, education, and leadership, and to meet the growing healthcare needs of our community.

Program Structure

  • Didactic Education: Fellows participate in structured didactic sessions covering core topics relevant to their specialty area, including pathophysiology, pharmacology, diagnostic techniques, and evidence-based practice.
  • Clinical Rotations: Fellows engage in supervised clinical rotations across diverse healthcare settings such as hospitals, outpatient clinics, specialty centers, and community health facilities. These rotations offer exposure to a broad patient population and hands-on experience in managing both acute and chronic conditions within the chosen specialty.
  • Advanced Procedures: Fellows have the opportunity to learn and perform advanced procedures pertinent to their specialty under the supervision of experienced preceptors.
  • Interprofessional Collaboration: Fellows work closely with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive, team-based, and patient-centered care.
  • Mentorship and Professional Development: Fellows receive ongoing mentorship from experienced clinicians and faculty. They also participate in professional development activities, including conferences, workshops, and networking events, to support career growth and lifelong learning.
