The Office of Advanced Practice Providers (OAPP) at UT Southwestern (UTSW) oversees the placement of doctoral APRN/PA students, advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) students, and non-UTSW matriculating physician assistant (PA) students.

APRN students and non-UTSW matriculating PA students are required to submit their placement request through the APP Student Precept Placement Request link. The APP Student Placement guidelines outline the requirements and guidelines for placement request for APRN and non-UTSW matriculating PA students.

Observer Requests

OAPP reviews requests for observation placements from undergraduate students and degree holders who need observation hours to pursue graduate studies as a physician assistant or advanced practice registered nurse. To be eligible, applicants must:

• Be 18 years of age or older
• Hold a bachelor's degree or be enrolled in a bachelor's program that qualifies for a graduate PA or APRN program
• Have a pre-identified UTSW clinician sponsor to observe

Please note: OAPP does not provide clinician matching services. You must secure your own observation sponsor prior to applying for placement. To apply, please complete the observer request form.
