Thousands of UT Southwestern employees, along with their friends and family members, turned out to Reunion Tower on Sept. 23 to participate in the 2023 Dallas Heart Walk.

The UT Southwestern SACNAS chapter received a 2021 SACNAS Chapter Award in recognition of its dedication to science, education, and professional development. UTSW was one of seven chapters honored with the national award.

In honor of Juneteenth, the oldest known commemoration that honors the abolition of slavery in the United States, UT Southwestern held a Freedom Day Celebration on Thursday, June 15, during lunchtime in the William P. Clements Jr. University Hospital Pavilion.

The most recent winners of UT Southwestern’s Diana and Richard C. Strauss Service Excellence Awards cover a lot of ground across the institution: Rapid Response, Neurology, Nephrology, Heart and Lung Transplant, Environmental Services, and Applied Clinical Research.

In honor of Juneteenth, the federal holiday that commemorates African Americans’ freedom and the abolition of slavery in the United States, members of the UT Southwestern community were invited to celebrate the historic day with two events in Dallas-Fort Worth on June 19.

Karolina Stepien, who studies how the brain’s neurotransmitters are released from one neuron to send a signal to another, has been named winner of the 2021 Ida M. Green Award.
