Externships for Visiting Medical Students

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology offers visiting fourth-year medical students a choice of six senior externships – three in obstetrics and its subspecialty and three in gynecological subspecialties. On each of these electives, externs function as part of a service team providing inpatient and outpatient care to a diverse, multiethnic patient population.

All electives are four weeks in duration and have a maximum of one to three students per rotation. Students are encouraged to attend the subspecialty conferences for the teams to which they are assigned, as well as the weekly Wednesday morning Department conferences.
