Externships for Visiting Medical Students

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology offers senior externships to fourth-year medical students. We offer electives in two major subspecialties of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

All electives are four weeks in duration and have a maximum of one to three students per rotation. Students are encouraged to attend the subspecialty conferences for the teams to which they are assigned, as well as the general Wednesday morning conferences for the Department.

Externships with the UTSW-Austin Obstetrics/Gynecology Program

Our Austin-based OB/Gyn residency program has senior externships available through the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas (UTMB). Information about this program can be found on the Seton Graduate Medical Education Electives website or by visiting Seton

The rotations are four weeks in length and focus on a mixture of obstetric and gynecologic experience in both hospital and private clinic settings. Attendance at the Wednesday conferences for residents is expected.
