Hypothalamic Researcher

The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Hypothalamic Research is seeking an Instructor. The position requires an M.D./Ph.D., or Ph.D. in a basic science and two to five years of postdoctoral experience. Candidates are expected to be self-motivated and to contribute substantively to the design, implementation, interpretation and reporting of investigational studies. Duties and responsibilities include prior experience with genetically engineered mouse models and related breeding strategies, mouse physiology studies, stereotaxic brain surgery, glucose clamps and other neuroanatomical techniques such as chemogenetics and optogenetics, histology, cell culture and/or proteomics/lipidomics/transcriptomics/bioinformatics to her/his ongoing projects in the lab. Additional responsibilities will include the teaching and training of graduate students, housestaff and fellows.

Hypothalamic Researcher

The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Department of Internal Medicine, Center for Hypothalamic Research is seeking an Assistant Professor. The position requires an M.D./Ph.D. or Ph.D., in a basic science and two to five years of postdoctoral experience in mouse physiology and metabolism, or a related specialty. Level of appointment will be commensurate with applicable experience. The position will develop independent and externally funded, as well as collaborative research programs focusing on understanding genetically-engineered mouse models, and related breeding strategies, mouse behavioral studies, histology, cell culture, and/or proteomics/lipidomics/transcriptomics/bioinformatics. Preference will be given to applicants performing “cutting-edge” research on physiology and metabolism and who have an outstanding publication record.
