How to Apply
A fellowship candidate for Surgical Critical Care must meet the following criteria:
- Has completed training and holds an M.D. or equivalent degree
- Is board eligible or board certified in general surgery
Selection is based on interviews with UT Southwestern Medical Center faculty.

- Applications are to be submitted through Surgical Critical Care and Acute Care Surgery Fellowship Application Service (SAFAS)
- CV
- Three letters of recommendation
- Enrollment in match

Candidates should submit an application, CV and three letters of recommendation to SAFAS.
To Apply for our Surgery Critical Care or AAST ACS Fellowship
- Send an email with CV, 3 Letters of Recommendation, ABSITE Scores, USMLE Step 1 and 2 Scores, Personal Statement to Licely Acaron.
To Apply for our Burn & Surgical Critical Care Fellowship
- Send an email with CV, 3 Letters of Recommendation, ABSITE Scores, USMLE Step 1 and 2 Scores, Personal Statement to Licely Acaron.
Application Cycle is outside of the match. Applications are accepted between December 15th – February 15th annually. Interviews are conducted in February-March annually.
