Dr. Ravikanth Maddipati studies pancreatic cancer, tumor metastasis, and pancreatitis in hopes of better understanding these diseases and discovering new treatments. His dedication to advancing patient care led to his recent selection as a 2019 UT Southwestern Disease-Oriented Clinical Scholar (DOCS).

UT Southwestern faculty, employees, and students - including more than 70 veterans –gathered on Veterans Day to celebrate those who have honorably served our country. Inspirational speeches, patriotic songs, and festive food set an uplifting tone for the fifth annual campus event.

With COVID-19 infections falling, this year’s graduation ceremony for UT Southwestern Medical School will return to the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center after a two-year hiatus and will host U.S. Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson as its commencement speaker. The ceremony for this year’s 211 Medical School graduates is scheduled at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 12.

During Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Division of Breast Imaging invited the UT Southwestern community to submit decorated bras as part of its 10th annual Bra Decorating Contest. The goal of this annual campaign is to generate awareness, early detection, and screening of breast cancer.

The Collaborative Research Grant Incentive (CRGI) provides incentive payments to UT Southwestern faculty members who are the PIs and Co-PIs/MPIs or Project Leaders of NIH program projects (P), research cooperative agreements (U), or collaborative program for multidisciplinary teams (RM) grants.

Dr. David A. Minna, Professor of Internal Medicine in the Rheumatic Diseases Division at UT Southwestern and a pioneer in incorporating musculoskeletal ultrasound into the specialty’s clinical practice, passed away Nov. 5 after an extended battle with cancer. He was 73.

Student Academic Support Services (SASS) sponsors a supplemental, peer tutorial program to help students who are experiencing difficulty in their coursework.

Ahneesh Mohanty’s first experience with UT Southwestern came as a young patient hospitalized for Kawasaki disease at Children’s Medical Center Dallas, where he received follow-up care for several years. “Because of this experience, I innately knew from a young age that I wanted to pursue medicine,” he said.
