David Sanders, Ph.D., Assistant Professor in the Center for Alzheimer’s and Neurodegenerative Diseases and Molecular Biology at UT Southwestern Medical Center, has been awarded $2.4 million over five years from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to support his research into the role of RNA/protein assemblies in neurodegenerative diseases.

Two UT Southwestern Medical Center scientists – Zhijian “James” Chen, Ph.D., Professor of Molecular Biology and Director of the Center for Inflammation Research, and Michael Rosen, Ph.D., Chair and Professor of Biophysics – have been selected as 2025 Citation Laureates in recognition of work deemed by Clarivate to be of the highest impact.

Duojia Pan, Ph.D., Chair and Professor of Physiology at UT Southwestern Medical Center, and Joshua Mendell, M.D., Ph.D., Professor of Molecular Biology, have been elected to the National Academy of Medicine (NAM), one of the highest honors in the fields of health and medicine.

Samuel Achilefu, Ph.D., inaugural Chair of Biomedical Engineering at UT Southwestern Medical Center and an internationally recognized leader in the fields of molecular imaging of cancer and nanotherapeutics, has been elected to the National Academy of Engineering (NAE).

The O’Donnell School of Public Health contains four departments: Epidemiology, Health Data Science and Biostatistics, Health Economics Systems and Policy, and Social and Behavioral Sciences. Departments manage Ph.D. concentrations with supplemental OSPH support, while the Office of Academic Affairs manages master’s concentrations and certificates, with input from the departments.
