UT Southwestern reached another milestone in transplant care by performing its first kidney-pancreas transplant since the Pancreas Transplant Program was reestablished in 2025. The transplant was organized by two expert physicians – Alissar El Chediak, M.D., Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine, and Christopher Nauser, M.D., Assistant Professor of Surgery.

In recognition of their impact on UT Southwestern’s research mission, four faculty members have been honored with the Office of Faculty Development’s inaugural Research Track Faculty Excellence Awards for outstanding mentorship, collaboration, innovation, and early scholarly achievements: Ariella Hanker, Ph.D., Bruce Posner, Ph.D., Massimo Trusel, Ph.D., and Chi Ma, Ph.D.
