Sponsored master’s program for UT Southwestern faculty and staff at UT Dallas

As a top academic medical center that integrates education, research, and patient care, UT Southwestern benefits from faculty and staff who possess strong leadership and business skills. In partnership with the UT Dallas Naveen Jindal School of Management, UT Southwestern Medical Center sponsors a comprehensive Leadership Development Program at the master’s level.

The program offers a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree with a concentration in Healthcare Organization Leadership specifically designed for our faculty and staff. The program also includes an option to graduate with a Master of Science in Management (M.S.) for 16 fewer credit hours than the MBA.

Classes for the next UT Southwestern sponsored cohort, which will include approximately 25 students, will begin in January 2020. It’s time for those who are interested to begin the application process.

Curriculum

This 53 credit-hour master’s program consists of three sets of core classes, including Leadership, Business Management, and Organizational Behavior. In addition to providing a comprehensive and practical education in management and administration, the program will include individual coaching, peer practice groups, and a “capstone” project focused on real-time UT Southwestern issues and priorities.

To accommodate the demanding schedules of UT Southwestern’s busy professionals, classes will be offered using a blended learning approach that combines in-class intensives with online learning methods. The intensives (approximately six a year) will be held at the new facilities at the Jindal School, while the online learning portions of the program will be delivered through state-of-the-art distance learning methodologies. This blended delivery model ensures both quality and convenience for our students.

Tuition and fees

Tuition and fees for the two-year MBA degree program will be approximately $49,000 per student. UT Southwestern will provide tuition assistance of $25,000 for those accepted into the sponsored MBA program who meet the tuition reimbursement requirements. Additionally, this program qualifies for federal financial aid, including veterans benefits.

The program also includes an option to graduate with a Master of Science in Management (M.S.). The M.S. program tuition and fees are approximately $34,000 per student. Financial aid will be available, and UTSW will provide tuition assistance of $15,000 for those who are accepted into this sponsored program and meet tuition reimbursement requirements.

Application requirements

Individuals with a minimum of a bachelor’s degree can apply; however, this UT Southwestern-sponsored program is especially designed for those currently in leadership roles or those who have the interest and potential to evolve into such roles. The Master’s Program Selection Committee will review and approve final selections.

Please note that employees who are not selected for the January 2020 UT Southwestern-sponsored cohort may still apply for the open-enrollment master’s classes at UT Dallas, with some tuition reimbursement. UT Southwestern employees are eligible to receive up to a maximum of $2,000 in tuition reimbursement per fiscal year for credit hours granted for eligible courses. Please see the Tuition Reimbursement Policy (EMP-305) for details.
